Schneider Weisse
Schneider Weisse
Inseparable: The brewery family Georg Schneider and wheat beer.
Two stories, separated by centuries and geography, that became one extraordinary brewing legacy.
The first story begins with Duke Maximilian I and his rigorous commitment to propagating wheat beer across Bavaria. His vision led to the foundation of the first "Weisses Bräuhaus" (White Brewery) in Kelheim - the very site where Schneider Weisse brews today. The duke understood what wheat beer could be, and he built the foundation for its future.
The second story seems wholly different, beginning far from Kelheim. It tells of the brewer family Schneider, passing precious heritage of experience and passion through generations. From father to son, the knowledge deepened, the recipes refined, the commitment strengthened. Each generation added to the family's brewing expertise while honoring those who came before.
In 1872, these two stories converged when Georg I. Schneider acquired the royal brewing rights and the Kelheim brewery. What the duke had started, the Schneider family would perfect - creating wheat beer that would define the style for generations to come.
Today, Schneider Weisse remains a family brewery, still brewing at the historic Kelheim site, still passing knowledge through generations, still committed to the wheat beer tradition established over 150 years ago. Their TAP 7 Original follows Georg I. Schneider's 1872 recipe unchanged - because perfection doesn't need revision. Their innovations like TAP 6 Aventinus (the world's first wheat Doppelbock) prove that honoring tradition doesn't mean standing still.
This is what happens when ducal vision meets family passion, when historic brewhouses meet generational expertise, when two stories become inseparable.
Traditionally special. True wheat beer pioneers.
